SUPCOM electronic commerce definition

According to the objectives of this study for EUROSTAT, the Supcom team will focus on only one business model, which is business to customers. We, therefore consider that electronic commerce implies all business relations between the general public and companies that is performed on line through data processing (pictures, texts, and sounds). More precisely, the SUPCOM project will focus on on-line retail, using for example the Internet. All figures produced in this study according to EUROSTAT's statistical rules (P333 to 336), and will only relate to the following activity:

Retail trade
(according to NACE code, division 52)

The division includes:
  • Resale (sale without transformation) of new and used goods to the general public for personal or household consumption or utilisation, by shops, department stores, stalls, mail-order houses, hawkers and peddlers, consumer cooperatives, etc.
